Lifting a coil-sprung Jeep is a geometry change that happens to also create clearance. That sentence is the whole category. The control arms set where the axle sits fore and aft, the track bar sets where it sits side to side, and the drag link has to agree with the track bar or the Jeep steers itself over bumps.

Nothing here will tell you a number of inches to buy. The useful question is what kind of lift, and what each kind asks you to fix afterwards.
