What each part is, and the problem it solves
Lift a TJ and the rear axle hangs farther from the frame. The rear sway bar rides on that axle, and its factory end links now come up short. The bar's arms tip up at a steep angle and the bar stops working the way it was designed to.
A longer fixed link corrects that at one ride height. That is exactly what both of these parts are. Neither adjusts, so the length has to suit your lift out of the box.
Rough Country 1015 is its rear TJ link for 4 to 6 in. of lift. The company publishes no length. Quadratec staff measured it at 10 in. center eye to center eye.
Zone J5401, SKU ZONJ5401 on Zone's site, is its rear TJ link for the same general band. Zone lists it at 11 in. long, built from 5/8 in. solid steel with an eyelet at each end.
If you see Rough Country 1028 listed nearby, it is not a longer rear link. It is Rough Country's front TJ and XJ link for 4 to 5 in., a bent design that bolts to a U-shaped bracket on the front bar.

Zone's title undersells its own fitment. It reads "Jeep Wrangler TJ (97-02)", but the fitment data on the same page runs through 2006 and includes the Unlimited. ExtremeTerrain also lists it for 1997-2006.
Rough Country's fitment data has no 2005-2006 Sahara row. Its notes do not exclude that trim, so it reads as a gap in the data.

The inch of difference in length matters more than the finish. On a fixed link, length is the whole product. Zone's longer link leans toward the top of the band, yet Zone's own description stops at 5 in.
Zone Offroad and JKS share a catalog: Zone's site also sells the JKS adjustable link under Zone's warranty. Keep that in mind if you are cross-shopping the two.
What's in the box
Rough Country: a pair of rear links and installation hardware, per Quadratec and ExtremeTerrain. No itemized list is published.
Zone: the links with black urethane bushings, sleeves and mounting hardware, per Zone. ExtremeTerrain also lists an instruction manual. We could not find that manual online.
Install compared
Both bolt into the factory rear link mounts. Neither maker calls for drilling or welding. ExtremeTerrain says the Zone needs the vehicle lifted and "mechanical expertise or professional installation."
Rough Country's feed quotes 2 to 3 hours for the 1015. ExtremeTerrain says about 1 hour for the Zone and about 30 minutes for the Rough Country. Zone publishes no time of its own.
Neither maker publishes torque values, so work from the factory service manual. One Rough Country owner found the factory bolts and sleeves too small for the new bushings, so have hardware on hand.
What it changes on the Jeep, and what else you need
A correct rear link brings the bar's arms back toward level. It adds no lift and does not touch the alignment. The lift follow-on list covers the parts that do.
Match the front. Zone's front TJ link, ZONJ5303, is rated for 3 to 4 in. of lift. Rough Country's front link, 1028, is rated for 4 to 5 in. Check the front rating against your lift before you order a set.
Fixed or quick disconnect? Zone answers this one in its own catalog. It sells its 4.25 in. TJ combo lift kit two ways, with fixed sway bar links or with a sway bar link disconnect. Its TJ disconnect, ZONJ5652 at $116.27, is described as a front part that stows on a lanyard after "a quick pull of the pin."
Warranty and support
Zone covers hard parts and wearable items for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. After that a limited lifetime warranty covers defects for as long as the original purchaser owns the vehicle. Bushings count as wearable items, so they fall out of coverage after the first period.
Zone limits finish coverage to 12 months and excludes racing, damage from larger wheels or tires, modification, abuse, improper installation and corrosion. Claims need proof of purchase, the vehicle's mileage and photos.
Rough Country describes a limited lifetime replacement warranty against manufacturer defects, in product copy reproduced by retailers. Its own warranty page would not load for us, so its exclusions are unverified.
Owner reports
These are retailer reviews, labeled as such. One Quadratec reviewer of the Rough Country 1015 (John J., May 2022, 3 stars) received too few washers. He said the original hardware could not be reused with the new bushings.
ExtremeTerrain shows 4.5 stars from 21 reviews for the Zone and 4.8 stars from 24 for the Rough Country. We could not retrieve forum threads on either part.
Who should buy which
4 to 5 in. of lift and you want to know what you are bolting on: Zone J5401. Zone publishes the length, the steel, the bushing material and the country of manufacture. The price gap is one dollar.
5 to 6 in. of lift: Rough Country 1015. It is the part that claims 6 in. without contradicting itself.
You need links this week: check stock first. Zone's own site showed the J5401 out of stock on 10 September 2026.
You care most about bushing coverage: Rough Country, narrowly. Zone stops covering bushings after 3 years or 36,000 miles. Rough Country's warranty text does not single them out, but we could not read its exclusions.

Is the Zone J5401 for 4 to 5 in. or 4 to 6 in. of lift?
Zone says both. Its description says the links are designed for 4 to 5 in. lift kits, while the spec line on the same page says 4 to 6 in. We treat 4 to 5 in. as the design range.
Does the Zone J5401 fit a 2003-2006 TJ?
Yes, by Zone's own fitment data, which runs 1997 through 2006 and includes the Unlimited. The product title says 97-02, which conflicts with that data.
How long are the two links?
Zone publishes 11 in. for the J5401. Rough Country does not publish a length, but Quadratec staff measured the 1015 at 10 in. center eye to center eye.
Can I use quick disconnects at the rear instead?
